Mysteries

I am not part of the New Age Movement, although I do have an interest in some of their ideas, but not all of them. For instance, I’m not overly interested in Channelling as I’ve studied some of the information received in that way and it doesn’t convince me. I’m more inclined to believe that it comes from the channeller’s subconscious – or perhaps they’re tapping in to the Universal Consciousness. However, I do have great curiosity about astrology, auras, chakras, crystals, pendulum dowsing, scrying, tarot cards, and the meaning and use of colours. As with most things, it’s about a personal belief system, one that helps me to make sense of the world, and what happens within in.

From my early teenage years I was also trying to find the 4th Dimension. I came up with the idea that life is rather like a train journey where you get on and off the train, but you don’t start at the beginning of the trip, and you don’t remain on the train until it reaches the terminus. And, long before I’d ever heard of Einstein, I came up with the thought that time is man-made for the convenience of man.

I don’t believe that it’s by pure chance that our environment can support life, especially human life. It’s exactly right, just a few 'millimetres' either way and we couldn't exist. Most of the scientists tell us that the Universe began with a Big Bang. Well, even as a child I’ve always asked what came before that, and the answer was always a very unsatisfactory ‘Nothing’! But, if you trace everything backwards to the state where the Big Bang arose from a ball of gas, then my question is 'who created that gas?' I don't find it credible that it just sprang into existence - from a void!!!

So, I’ve spent most of my life interested in all types of mysteries. I’m not in the least scientific, nor am I at all mathematically minded. In fact both are almost a ‘foreign language’ to me. And that is why I’m probably more drawn towards these esoteric ideas.

Below you will find an eclectic collection of links to the mysteries that I find the most fascinating. I hope you’ll enjoy some of them:

Report from the university library in Edinburgh, UK, of a small black box that generates endless random numbers using a microchip similar to those found in pocket calculators. An increasing number of respected scientists are starting to think it capable of seeing into the future and predicting key world events. Thus far it seems to have predicted 9/11 and Asian tsunami just before they occurred. Emeritus researcher at Princeton University, USA, heading the research into this phenomenon  - named Global Consciousness Project (February 2005):

Some researchers doubt Einstein’s Twin Paradox theory. The theory says that if one twin stays on Earth and the other travels in space there would be a big age difference between them when the travelling twin returned to Earth. It suggests that the twin who stayed on Earth would be much older than one who travelled. Now a few researchers are starting to believe the opposite would happen, due to the affects of space radiation and the biology of aging (March 2006):

Archaeologists in Israel find red-ochre stained bones in a cave where humans lived 100,000 years ago - leads researchers to hypothesize that symbolic thought first appeared much earlier than usually accepted. It was such mental skill that allowed sophisticated language and mathematics to appear. Data shows the appearance of reasoning is 50,000 years earlier than first thought. But, through some unknown cause the ability was lost, only to return 13,000 years ago:

Previously dismissed as a seafarer’s fantasy - freak waves, up to 100 feet high, really do occur in the World’s oceans. The ESA, using earth-scanning satellites, captured images of at least 10 such waves during a 3-week project called MaxWave (July 2004):
